Last Saturday a group of keen MFCG members and friends were joined by a crew from Big Help Mob for a day of hard labour in the garden. Our aim was to dig out 700 m2 of grass so that we can extend the garden. As you know, so far we've only got in 4 beds out of our massive garden plan so this was a momentous day - clearing the site for our garden.
The weather was on-and-off drizzle, then sometime after lunch, quite heavy rain. We got muddy! Even the turtles (tortoises?) were out and about.

We had a great time with turf cutters, dug out squares of grass and stacked them up for collection by one-and-all who like free grass (apparently lots of people do). We raked and turned over the soil and removed the runners.
Thanks to everyone who came and helped, and those that took away the grass. We got a lot done and we are moving ever closer to construction of the garden! See our events page for more details on this. Hope to see you at our next busy bee.
