Waste to Food - Full Cycle Project
The aim of this project was to create the first community garden within the City of South Perth where re-using waste materials will be a key component. The project has been supported by The Waste Authority through the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Account as part of their 2012 Community Grants Scheme.
Key outcomes achieved:
- The use of composting and worm farm techniques onsite to recover energy from food waste and to showcase these techniques to the wider public through passive opportunities of community passing through the garden and to run educational workshops for targeted groups.
- To showcase a variety of constructions to demonstrate the use of recycled products and to engage members in educational sessions reusing waste products.
We would like to acknowledge the support of the Waste Authority and remind members to head down to the garden in a couple of Sunday's for our composting workshop! 10 am at MFCG, Sunday 21st July.
